About

Hey, I’m Pete. I like to travel, eat weird stuff, and I’m always chasing a bit of adventure.

This blog is where I share the good, the strange, and everything that makes travel interesting. You’ll find real tips here—tested routes, honest advice, and the occasional surprise.

Why Sand in My Shoe?

For me, sand in my shoe is that small, uncomfortable part of travel — the spontaneity, the unpredictability, the moments when you’re hitchhiking, cycling, or figuring out public transport on the fly. I actually enjoy that. It keeps the journey real.

When I create guides, my goal isn’t to remove all the sand from your shoe — just enough so you don’t struggle unnecessarily. But I still recommend keeping a little of it, so your trip isn’t completely served to you on a plate.
