Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is an island of contrasts — where wild elephants roam national parks and sometimes even on the roads, and surfers ride warm Indian Ocean waves. You can rattle through misty tea hills in a tuk-tuk or sip cocktails at a boutique beach resort.

One moment you’re climbing ancient temple steps, the next you’re sharing a laugh at a roadside fruit stall. Every journey here feels like part of the story.

Sri Lanka Weather by Coast, Highlands & Season

Sri Lanka’s east coast (Arugam Bay, Trincomalee, Batticaloa) is best from February to August, with peak surf and sunshine between June and August. The south coast (Mirissa, Tangalle, Weligama) shines from November to April, offering calm seas and blue skies. The central highlands and cultural triangle (Ella, Kandy, Sigiriya) are great year-round, though Nuwara Eliya—in the center highlands—gets especially rainy in June and July.
